“Upon the Barricades” Barricades” tells the story of Germany in the first half of the 19th century.
It is the story of how we tried to establish a unified nation-state after shaking off Napoleon’s yoke, how we sparked a revolution, and how it all failed.” 
For songwriter and Frankfurt resident Till Oberboßel (ELVENPATH), this is also a matter close to his heart for regional reasons (the National Assembly at Frankfurt’s Paulskirche in 1848). 
For this magnificent concept album, he has managed to enlist an incredible number of prominent guest vocalists,
including Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden), Zak Stevens (Savatage), Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear) and Harry Conklin (Jag Panzer), among many others. Stylistically, when it comes to metal opera, storytelling, etc.,
people automatically think of Avantasia these days - but if you ask Till Oberboßel directly, he describes the sound as “less keyboard, more guitar based and organic heavy/power metal .”
